Changes in prices for consumer goods and services in April 2021

In April 2021, against March, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.9 per cent. This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for clothing and footwear, vegetables, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, non-durable household goods, meat and meat products, as well as a decrease in prices for fuels and lubricants, spirits, pharmaceutical products, bread and cereal products. Foreign trade in goods in March 2021In March 2021, exports of goods amounted to EUR 2.74 billion, imports – EUR 3.10 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.64 billion. The foreign trade deficit amounted to EUR 359.1 million.

Over the month (March 2021, against February 2021), exports and imports increased by 12.5 and 27.1 per cent respectively. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products (44.6 per cent), plastics and articles thereof (26.5 per cent) and furniture (17.8 per cent). More

Gross domestic product first estimate in I quarter 2021

Statistics Lithuania informs that in I quarter 2021, country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 11.4 billion at current prices. Compared to IV quarter 2020, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, stood at 1.8 per cent.

As for GDP estimated by production approach, in I quarter 2021, the positive influence on the change in GDP was made by performance results of enterprises engaged in industry, wholesale and retail trade, transport, information and communication, and real estate activities.More

In March 2021, against February, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 1 per cent.

This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for fuels and lubricants, clothing, gambling (lottery tickets) services, footwear, heat energy, vegetables, fruit, as well as a decrease in prices for non-durable household goods, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, oils and fats, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery. Foreign trade in goods in February 2021In January 2021, exports amounted to EUR 2.27 billion, imports – EUR 2.16 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.47 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 107.4 million. 

Over the month (January 2021, against December 2020), exports decreased by 15.4 per cent, imports – 13.9 per cent. The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (38.2 per cent), cereals (43.7 per cent), miscellaneous chemical products (21 per cent). The decrease in imports was influenced by the decrease of imports of machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (32.6 per cent), ground vehicles (26 per cent). Mineral products excluded, exports decreased by 15.7 per cent, imports – 17.4 per cent. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 5.5 per cent, mineral products excluded – 4.5 per cent. More

General government deficit and debt in 2020

In 2020, general government deficit stood at 7.3, debt – 47.3 per cent of GDP.

Based on provisional data, in 2020, general government deficit amounted to EUR 3 billion 547 million, or 7.3 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP). In 2019, general government surplus totalled EUR 224.2 million, or 0.5 per cent of GDP. More

In January 2021, exports amounted to EUR 2.27 billion, imports – EUR 2.16 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.47 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 107.4 million.

In IV quarter 2020, country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 12.8 billion at current prices. Compared to III quarter 2020, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, was negative and stood at minus 0.2 per cent.

In January 2021, against December 2020, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.5 per cent. This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for fuels, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, vegetables, electricity, fruit, heat energy, as well as a decrease in prices for footwear, passenger transport by air, pharmaceutical products, therapeutic appliances and equipment.

Over the month, prices for consumer goods increased by 0.6 per cent, those for consumer services – 0.3 per cent.

In December 2020, exports amounted to EUR 2.69 billion, imports – EUR 2.51 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.56 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 173.3 million. 

Over the month (December, against November), exports increased by 5.4 per cent, imports decreased by 7.9 per cent. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of products of the chemical and allied industries (86 per cent), iron and steel (2 times), cereals (27.8 per cent). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of electrical machinery and equipment, parts thereof (19.7 per cent); parts thereof (11.2 per cent), ground vehicles (15.4 per cent), crude petroleum (32.7 per cent). In IV quarter 2020, country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 12.7billion at current prices. Compared to III quarter 2020, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, was positive and stood at 1.2 per cent.

This was mainly influenced by a decrease in prices for clothing, footwear, vegetables, spirits, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, as well as an increase in prices for fuels and lubricants, passenger transport by air, heat energy.

In November 2020, exports amounted to EUR 2.56 billion, imports – EUR 2.69 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.50 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 130.1 million. 

Over the month (November, against October), exports decreased by 6.6 per cent, imports – 0.4 per cent. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of oil seeds or oleaginous fruits (77.6 per cent), cereals (26.7 per cent), machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (11.2 per cent). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of crude petroleum (24.1 per cent), iron and steel (29.7 per cent). Over the month (October, against September), exports increased by 3.5 per cent, imports increased by 7.2 per cent. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (16.9 per cent), iron and steel (36.2 per cent). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in imports of crude petroleum (27.9 per cent), iron and steel (52.3 per cent).
