In II quarter 2021, country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 13.0 billion at current prices. Compared to I quarter 2021, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, was positive and stood at 0.4 per cent.

As for GDP estimated by production approach, in II quarter 2021, the positive influence on the change in GDP was made by performance results of enterprises engaged in industry, construction, wholesale and retail trade activities. More

Foreign trade in goods in April 2021In April 2021, exports of goods amounted to EUR 2.67 billion, imports – EUR 2.93 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.57 billion. The foreign trade deficit amounted to EUR 259.3 million.

Over the month (April 2021, against March 2021), exports and imports decreased by 2.8 and 5.8 per cent respectively. The decrease in exports was influenced by a decrease in exports of petroleum products (23.8 per cent), miscellaneous chemical products (8.4 per cent), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (4.6 per cent). The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of crude petroleum (56.6 per cent), ground vehicles (6.9 per cent), and fertilizers (40.3 per cent). Mineral products excluded, exports decreased by 1.2, imports – 0.6 per cent. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 4.8 per cent, mineral products excluded – 2.9 per cent. More

Changes in prices for consumer goods and services in May 2021

In May 2021, against April, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.6 per cent.
This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for clothing and footwear, spirits, catering services of restaurants, cafés and the like, fuels and lubricants, bread and cereal products, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, as well as a decrease in prices for heat energy, other personal care products, other appliances, articles and products for personal care. Over the month, prices for consumer goods increased by 0.6 per cent, those for consumer services – 0.5 per cent.. More

In April 2021, against March, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.9 per cent. This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for clothing and footwear, vegetables, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, non-durable household goods, meat and meat products, as well as a decrease in prices for fuels and lubricants, spirits, pharmaceutical products, bread and cereal products. Foreign trade in goods in March 2021In March 2021, exports of goods amounted to EUR 2.74 billion, imports – EUR 3.10 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.64 billion. The foreign trade deficit amounted to EUR 359.1 million.

Over the month (March 2021, against February 2021), exports and imports increased by 12.5 and 27.1 per cent respectively. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of petroleum products (44.6 per cent), plastics and articles thereof (26.5 per cent) and furniture (17.8 per cent). More

Gross domestic product first estimate in I quarter 2021

Statistics Lithuania informs that in I quarter 2021, country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 11.4 billion at current prices. Compared to IV quarter 2020, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, stood at 1.8 per cent.

As for GDP estimated by production approach, in I quarter 2021, the positive influence on the change in GDP was made by performance results of enterprises engaged in industry, wholesale and retail trade, transport, information and communication, and real estate activities.More

In March 2021, against February, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 1 per cent.

This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for fuels and lubricants, clothing, gambling (lottery tickets) services, footwear, heat energy, vegetables, fruit, as well as a decrease in prices for non-durable household goods, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, oils and fats, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery. Foreign trade in goods in February 2021In January 2021, exports amounted to EUR 2.27 billion, imports – EUR 2.16 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.47 billion. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 107.4 million. 

Over the month (January 2021, against December 2020), exports decreased by 15.4 per cent, imports – 13.9 per cent. The decrease in imports was determined by a decrease in imports of machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (38.2 per cent), cereals (43.7 per cent), miscellaneous chemical products (21 per cent). The decrease in imports was influenced by the decrease of imports of machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (32.6 per cent), ground vehicles (26 per cent). Mineral products excluded, exports decreased by 15.7 per cent, imports – 17.4 per cent. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 5.5 per cent, mineral products excluded – 4.5 per cent. More

General government deficit and debt in 2020

In 2020, general government deficit stood at 7.3, debt – 47.3 per cent of GDP.

Based on provisional data, in 2020, general government deficit amounted to EUR 3 billion 547 million, or 7.3 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP). In 2019, general government surplus totalled EUR 224.2 million, or 0.5 per cent of GDP. More
