Consumer opinion survey results in May 2021In May 2021, consumer confidence indicator decreased by 3 percentage points

Statistics Lithuania informs that in May 2021, the consumer confidence indicator stood at minus 2 and, compared to April, decreased by 3 percentage points. Compared to April, population expectations for the changes in the country’s economic situation were slightly more optimistic, yet opinion about changes in the household’s financial situation in the last 12 months and expectations for the changes in the household’s financial situation were more pessimistic, and the residents intended to spend on the major purchases less. Earnings in 2020In 2020, gross earnings in the whole economy increased by 10.2 per cent.

In 2020, average gross monthly earnings in the whole economy (individual enterprises included) totalled EUR 1,428.6 and, compared to 2019, increased by 10.2 per cent: in the public sector average gross monthly earnings totalled EUR 1,541.3 (increased by 12.5 per cent), in the private sector – EUR 1,379.1 (increased by 9.1 per cent). Earnings in the whole economy in I guarter 2021In I quarter 2021, the unemployment rate stood at 7.5 per cent

Statistics Lithuania informs that based on provisional data of the Labour Force Survey, in I quarter 2021, the unemployment rate stood at 7.5 per cent and compared to IV quarter 2020, decreased by 1.5 percentage points, while compared to the respective period of 2020, increased by 0.4 percentage points. In I quarter 2021, the male unemployment rate stood at 7.4, female – 7.5 per cent. In I quarter 2021, the youth (persons aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 12.5 per cent and over a quarter decreased by 6.7 percentage points, over a year – by 2.5 percentage points. Over a quarter, the long-term unemployment rate slightly increased. In I quarter 2021, it stood at 2.6 per cent and compared to the respective period of 2020, increased by 0.2 percentage points.
