Implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Lithuania (PDF)

The 70th Session of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (PDF)”.

“This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. We recognize that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.

All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan. We are resolved to free the human race from the tyranny of poverty and want and to heal and secure our planet. We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world on to a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind.” (70th Session of the UN General Assembly. Agenda items 15 and 116.)

The Agenda establishes 17 goals, 169 targets and over 200 indicators towards them, based on three sustainable development aspects (environmental, social and economic), covering the domains of poverty, inequality, food safety, health, sustainable consumption and production, employment, infrastructure, sustainable management of natural resources, actions to fight climate change, gender equality, peaceful and inclusive society, etc.

Statistics Lithuania, together with ministries and other institutions, prepared a national list of sustainable development indicators. The list covers only the indicators which are relevant for Lithuania. Some of the indicators are already produced, the rest – will be in the future. The values of the indicators were obtained from various sources: Official Statistics Portal, databases of national institutions, UN Sustainable Development Goals Indicators Database, databases of other international organisations.
