Since 1994, the Statistical board has been functioning at Statistics Lithuania as an advisory body (established by Resolution No 573 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania (Official Gazette, 2011, No 61-2900).
The Statistical board analyses key organisational and methodological statistics-related issues; considers methodological principles of censuses, statistical registers, the main surveys, as well as official statistics work programmes, the main results of statistical surveys, data protection, issues related to the submission of statistical information to public authorities and publication thereof; draws up conclusions; submits proposals to Statistics Lithuania.
The Statistical board is comprised of the representatives of State and municipal authorities, institutions managing official statistics, scientific institutions, non-governmental organisations, enterprises, other respondents and the media.
