In I quarter 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, cargo transport by all modes of transport increased by 3 per cent, the turnover of cargo transport decreased by 4.7 per cent.

Based on provisional data, at the beginning of June 2026, 2 million 885 thousand residents were living in Lithuania, which is by 2.6 thousand less than at the beginning of the 2026.

In I quarter 2026, against the same quarter of 2025, labour costs per hour worked in industrial, construction and service enterprises (individual enterprises included), calendar adjusted, increased by 8.6 per cent, of which in business enterprises – 7.9 per cent.

In 2025, 47.6 thousand people immigrated to Lithuania, which is by 4.2 thousand (8.1 per cent) less than in 2024. 

In I quarter 2026, average gross hourly earnings in the whole economy (individual enterprises excluded) totalled EUR 15.85 and, against I quarter 2025, increased by 10.9 per cent: in the public sector, amounted to EUR 16.61, and increased by 10.7 per cent, in the private sector – EUR 15.52, and increased by 11 per cent.

2026-06-09 Changes in prices calculated based on harmonised index of consumer prices In May 2026, according to the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which is methodologically harmonised with those of other EU member states, the calculated: average annual inflation stood at 3.7 per cent, average annual inflation calculated based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 4.1 per cent; annual inflation (May 2026, against May 2025) stood at 5.1 per cent, the CPI-based one – 5.5 per cent. Annual inflation calculated based on the HICP was mainly influenced by an increase in prices recorded for petrol, diesel, heat energy, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, services of restaurants, cafes and the like, cigarettes, other fuels for personal transport equipment, spirits and liquors, plants, seeds and flowers, beer, meat, outpatient curative and rehabilitative services, as well as by a decrease in prices observed for second-hand motor cars, equipment for the reception, recording and reproduction of sound and vision, potatoes, other games, toys and hobby-related articles, bread and bakery products, electricity. change in prices for consumer goods and services in May 2026, compared to April, the same as the CPI-based one, stood at –0.1 per cent.
