Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises in July 2020Over August, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 0.5 per cent

Based on provisional data, in August 2020, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 1 billion 135 million at current prices, and against July 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 0.5 per cent at constant prices.

Over the month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 0.3 per cent, of those trading in non-food products – 1.1 per cent, of those engaged in retail trade of automotive fuel – 0.2 per cent at constant prices. More

Changes in industry in August 2020In August 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.8 billion at current prices and, compared to July, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 2.3 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – 0.7 per cent).

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for repair and installation services of machinery and equipment – 15.6 per cent (unadjusted – 12.2 per cent), refined petroleum products – 10.1 per cent (unadjusted – 7.8 per cent), fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment – 5.6 per cent (unadjusted – 8.9 per cent), wood and wood products, except furniture – 3.3 per cent (unadjusted – 2 per cent), the manufacture of other transport vehicles and equipment – 21.5 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 9.6 per cent), chemicals and chemical products – 5.3 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 5.7 per cent). Business tendency survey results and economic sentiment indicator in August 2020In August 2020, economic sentiment indicator increased by 6 percentage points.

In August 2020, compared to July, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e. confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania's economy, increased by 6 percentage points and stood at minus 5 per cent.

Although an increase in economic sentiment indicator has been observed for the fourth month in a row after a sharp drop in April, almost a fifth of companies (19 per cent) are still feeling the effects of the coronavirus. Of them, 27 per cent of enterprises engaged in services, 20 per cent – trade, 13 per cent – construction, and 10 per cent – industry stated that their business activity has been limited due to coronavirus pandemic situation. More

Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises in July 2020Based on provisional data, in July 2020, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 1 billion 132 million at current prices, and against June 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 0.8 per cent at constant prices.

Over the month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 1.5 per cent, of those trading in non-food products – decreased by 0.3 per cent, of those engaged in retail trade of automotive fuel – increased by 2.1 per cent at constant prices. Statistics on accommodation services in II Q 2020In II quarter 2020, accommodation establishments accommodated 308.2 thousand tourists, or by 71.9 per cent less than in the same period of 2019. The number of foreign tourists totalled 47.4 thousand (by 91.3 per cent less), the number of Lithuania’s residents – 260.8 thousand (by 52.9 per cent less).

In 2020, due to the imposed COVID-19 quarantine in Lithuania, in April, the country’s accommodation establishments received 89.7 per cent less tourists, in May – 81.3 per cent less, and in June – 52.6 per cent less than over the respective months in 2019.  More

Changes in industry in July 2020In July 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.8 billion at current prices and, compared to June, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 2 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – 1.6 per cent).

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations  – 42.3 per cent (unadjusted – 15.7 per cent), manufacture of leather and related products – 38.3 per cent (unadjusted – 65.5 per cent), motor vehicles, trailers and semi trailers – 31.9 per cent (unadjusted – 16.3 per cent), manufacture of textiles – 9.2 per cent (unadjusted – 0.2 per cent), manufacture of refined petroleum products – 8.4 per cent (unadjusted – 9.2 per cent). Business tendency survey results and economic sentiment indicator in July 2020In July 2020, economic sentiment indicator increased by 5 percentage points.

Statistics Lithuania informs that in July 2020, compared to June, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e. confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania's economy, increased by 5 percentage points and stood at minus 11 per cent. This was influenced by improving situation regarding COVID-19 pandemic: in July, 21 per cent (in April, 38 per cent) of the respondents indicated that their business activity was limited by coronavirus. The pandemic mostly affected trade (23 per cent; in April, 52 per cent) and service sector (29 per cent; in April, 42 per cent), while industry (13 per cent; in April, 24 per cent) and construction (16 per cent; in April, 36 per cent) were less affected. The retail trade confidence indicator increased by 15, services – 11, construction – 3, industrial – 2, consumer* ­– 1 percentage point. More

Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises in June 2020Over June, after revoking the COVID-19 quarantine, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 5.6 per cent, of food and beverage service enterprises – 49.7 per cent.

Changes in industry in June 2020In June 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.7 billion at current prices and, compared to May, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 1.2 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – 6.3 per cent).

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations – 2.1 times (unadjusted – 2.7 times), furniture – 24.9 per cent (unadjusted – 42.4 per cent), other transport vehicles and equipment – 18.1 per cent (unadjusted – 30.4 per cent), textiles – 17.6 per cent (unadjusted – 30.8 per cent), basic metals – 17.3 per cent (unadjusted – 19.2 per cent), other manufacture – 17.3 per cent (unadjusted – 16.8 per cent).
