In December 2020, economic sentiment indicator decreased by 3 percentage points

In December 2020, compared to November, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e. confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania's economy, decreased by 3 percentage points and stood at minus 11 per cent. It was influenced by the worsening situation due to COVID-19 pandemic: 27 per cent (a month ago, 24 per cent) of respondents indicated that their business activity was limited by Coronavirus. The quarantine affected the most the retail trade (36 per cent, in November, 32 per cent) and service sector (35 per cent, in November, 32 per cent), while industry (14 per cent, in November, 12 per cent) and construction (18 per cent, in November, 14 per cent) were less affected. The  services confidence indicator decreased by 9, retail trade – 5,  construction – 4 percentage points. Over November, the turnover of retail trade enterprises decreased by 0.4 per cent

Based on provisional data, in November 2020, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 1 billion 55 million at current prices, and against October 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 0.4 per cent at constant prices. Over the month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products, seasonally and calendar adjusted, remained the same, of those trading in non-food products – decreased by 0.4 per cent, of those engaged in retail trade of automotive fuel – 1.2 per cent at constant prices.  More

Changes in industry in November 2020

In November 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.9 billion at current prices and, compared to October, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 1.3 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – decreased by 1.2 per cent).
Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations – 42.5 per cent (unadjusted – 57.5 per cent), manufacture of refined petroleum products – 9.5 per cent (unadjusted – 4.2 per cent), other production – 7.5 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 2.4 per cent), manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – 6.3 per cent (unadjusted – 9 per cent). More

Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises in September 2020Over September, the turnover of retail trade enterprises decreased by 0.4 per cent.

Based on provisional data, in September 2020, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 1 billion 65 million at current prices, and against August 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 0.4 per cent at constant prices.

Over the month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 0.2 per cent, of those trading in non-food products – 0.1 per cent, of those engaged in retail trade of automotive fuel – 1.3 per cent at constant prices. More

Changes in industry in September 2020In September 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.8 billion at current prices and, compared to August, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 0.4 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – increased by 5.4 per cent).

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, a decrease in production was observed for the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – 10.3 per cent (unadjusted – 6.9 per cent), manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – 8 per cent (unadjusted – 11.2 per cent), food products – 1.1 per cent (unadjusted – 0.9 per cent), manufacture of leather and related products – 16.2 per cent (unadjusted – increased by 9.8 per cent), manufacture of other transport vehicles and equipment – 7.6 per cent (unadjusted – increased by 38.3 per cent), manufacture of refined petroleum products – 1 per cent (unadjusted – increased by 3.9 per cent). Based on provisional data, in August 2020, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 1 billion 135 million at current prices, and against July 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 0.5 per cent at constant prices.

Changes in industry in August 2020In August 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.8 billion at current prices and, compared to July, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 2.3 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – 0.7 per cent).

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for repair and installation services of machinery and equipment – 15.6 per cent (unadjusted – 12.2 per cent), refined petroleum products – 10.1 per cent (unadjusted – 7.8 per cent), fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment – 5.6 per cent (unadjusted – 8.9 per cent), wood and wood products, except furniture – 3.3 per cent (unadjusted – 2 per cent), the manufacture of other transport vehicles and equipment – 21.5 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 9.6 per cent), chemicals and chemical products – 5.3 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 5.7 per cent).
