Business tendency survey results and economic sentiment indicator in March 2021In March 2021, economic sentiment indicator increased by 3 percentage points

In March 2021, compared to February, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e. confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania's economy, increased by 3 percentage points and stood at 2 per cent.

Although, compared to February, economic sentiment indicator is better, but it was influenced by the worsening situation due to COVID-19 pandemic: 31 per cent (a month ago, 32 per cent) of respondents indicated that the quarantine limited activities of their enterprise. It mostly affected the retail trade (42 per cent, a month ago, 44 per cent) and service sector (38 per cent, a month ago, the same per cent), while industry (16 per cent, a month ago, 17 per cent) and construction (20 per cent, a month ago, 19 per cent) sectors were less affected. Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises in February 2021Over February, with the easing of the COVID-19 quarantine requirements, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 5.5 per cent. The turnover of retail trade enterprises trading in non-food products increased by 11.1 per cent, while the retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet decreased by 2.8 per cent at constant prices.

Based on provisional data, in February 2021, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 908 million at current prices, and against January 2021, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 5.5 per cent at constant prices. More

In February 2021, compared to January, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e. confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania's economy, increased by 5 percentage points and stood at minus 1 per cent.

Although, compared to January, economic sentiment indicator is better, but it was influenced by the worsening situation due to COVID-19 pandemic: 32 per cent (a month ago, 31 per cent) of respondents indicated that that the quarantine limited activities of their enterprise. It mostly affected the retail trade (44 per cent, a month ago, 42 per cent) and service sector (38 per cent, a month ago, the same per cent), while industry (17 per cent, a month ago, 16 per cent) and construction (19 per cent, a month ago, the same per cent) sectors were less affected.  More

Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises in January 2021Over January, due to the COVID-19 quarantine related measures, the turnover of retail trade enterprises decreased by 5.1 per cent, the turnover of enterprises trading in non-food products decreased by 15.4 per cent, of those trading in food products – increased by 2.1 per cent at constant prices.

Based on provisional data, in January 2021, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 897.5 million at current prices, and against December 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 5.1 per cent at constant prices. More

Statistics on accommodation services in the country in  IV Q 2020In IV quarter 2020, accommodation establishments accommodated 320.8 thousand tourists, which is by 61.6 per cent less than in the same period of 2019. The number of foreign tourists accommodated totalled 50.2 thousand (by 87.2 per cent less), the number of Lithuania’s residents – 270.6 thousand (by 38.9 per cent less).

In October 2020, the country’s accommodation establishments received by 35.4 per cent less tourists, in November – by 68.4 per cent less tourists, in December – by 83 per cent less tourists than in the respective months in 2019. More

Changes in industry in January 2021In January 2021, industrial production totalled EUR 1.9 billion at current prices and, compared to December 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 2.1 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – 1.1 per cent).

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – 47.8 per cent (unadjusted – 88.1 per cent),   (unadjusted – 29.9 per cent), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – 14.8 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 7.5 per cent), manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers – 10.9 per cent (unadjusted – by 9.7 per cent), manufacture of beverages – 7.3 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 22.6 per cent). In January 2021, compared to December 2020, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e. confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania's economy, increased by 5 percentage points and stood at minus 6 per cent.

Although, compared to December, economic sentiment indicator is better, but it was influenced by the worsening situation due to COVID-19 pandemic: 31 per cent (a month ago, 27 per cent) of respondents indicated that that the quarantine limited activities of their enterprise. It mostly affected the retail trade (42 per cent, in December, 36 per cent) and service sector (38 per cent, a month ago, 35 per cent), while industry (16 per cent, in December, 14 per cent) and construction (19 per cent, a month ago, 18 per cent) services were less affected. More

Trade enterprises decreased by 6.2 per cent, of food and beverage service enterprises – 16.3 per cent, while the retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet increased by 35.1 per cent at constant prices.

In December 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.8 billion at current prices and, compared to November, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 0.6 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – decreased by 4.3 per cent). 

Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for the manufacture of other transport vehicles and equipment – 35.7 per cent (unadjusted – 82.5 per cent), manufacture of wearing apparel – 6.2 per cent (unadjusted – 3.9 per cent), food products – 4.8 per cent (unadjusted – 2.5 per cent), electrical equipment – 9 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 10.1 per cent), manufacture of wood and of products of wood, except furniture – 7 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 8.3 per cent).  More

In December 2020, economic sentiment indicator decreased by 3 percentage points

In December 2020, compared to November, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e. confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania's economy, decreased by 3 percentage points and stood at minus 11 per cent. It was influenced by the worsening situation due to COVID-19 pandemic: 27 per cent (a month ago, 24 per cent) of respondents indicated that their business activity was limited by Coronavirus. The quarantine affected the most the retail trade (36 per cent, in November, 32 per cent) and service sector (35 per cent, in November, 32 per cent), while industry (14 per cent, in November, 12 per cent) and construction (18 per cent, in November, 14 per cent) were less affected. The  services confidence indicator decreased by 9, retail trade – 5,  construction – 4 percentage points. The consumer* and industry confidence indicators increased by 1 percentage point.  More

Over November, the turnover of retail trade enterprises decreased by 0.4 per cent

Based on provisional data, in November 2020, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 1 billion 55 million at current prices, and against October 2020, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 0.4 per cent at constant prices. Over the month, the turnover of enterprises trading in food products, seasonally and calendar adjusted, remained the same, of those trading in non-food products – decreased by 0.4 per cent, of those engaged in retail trade of automotive fuel – 1.2 per cent at constant prices.  More

In November 2020, industrial production totalled EUR 1.9 billion at current prices and, compared to October, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 1.3 per cent at constant prices (unadjusted – decreased by 1.2 per cent).
Over the month, seasonally and calendar adjusted, an increase in production was observed for the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations – 42.5 per cent (unadjusted – 57.5 per cent), manufacture of refined petroleum products – 9.5 per cent (unadjusted – 4.2 per cent), other production – 7.5 per cent (unadjusted – decreased by 2.4 per cent), manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – 6.3 per cent (unadjusted – 9 per cent). More
