In May 2025, the number of overnight stays in the accommodation establishments totalled 834.9 thousand and, compared to the same period last year, increased by 17.8 per cent. The number of overnight stays of foreign tourists totalled 292.1 thousand (or by 1.9 per cent more), of Lithuania’s residents – 542.8 thousand (or by 28.6 per cent more). In May 2025, room occupancy rate in hotels and motels stood at 58.6 per cent and, compared to the same period in 2024, decreased by 2.3 percentage points, bed occupancy rate accounted for 46.4 per cent and decreased by 1.3 percentage points.
At the end of May 2025, the debt of the central government amounted to EUR 31.49 billion and, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, increased by 10.3 per cent. Debt to foreign creditors accounted for 69.8 per cent, debt to domestic creditors – 30.2 per cent.
In April 2025, the turnover (VAT excluded) of service enterprises amounted to EUR 3 billion 735 million at current prices and, against March 2025, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 1.6 per cent at constant prices, while against April 2024, calendar adjusted, increased by 8 per cent.
In 2024, on average, one student of a general education school received EUR 4,830 (by EUR 529 more than in 2023) of government sector funds and EUR 481 (by EUR 74 more) funds from domestic and foreign natural persons or legal entities. A student of a general education school in the Capital Region received EUR 4,783 (by 515 more) from the government sector and EUR 628 (by EUR 50 less) from natural persons or legal entities. A student of a general education school in the Central and Western Lithuania Region received EUR 4,840 (by EUR 552 more) and EUR 407 (by EUR 124 more), respectively. In 2024, on average, EUR 7,163 (by EUR 1,163 more than in 2023) of government sector funds and EUR 859 (by EUR 64 less) from domestic and foreign natural or legal persons were allocated to one pupil of a preschool education institution. A pupil of a pre-school educational institution in the Capital Region received EUR 6,914 (by EUR 1,169 more) from the government sector and EUR 1,125 (by EUR 118 less) from natural or legal persons. A pupil of a preschool educational institution in the Central and Western Lithuania Region received EUR 7,459 (by EUR 1,360 more) and EUR 719 (by EUR 89 more), respectively.
In 2024, in Lithuania, 12,865 children suffered from a contagious disease – chickenpox, which is by 4,044 children, or 23.9 per cent, less than in 2023. In 2024, 324 children were found to be addicted to narcotic and toxic substances, i.e. by 9 children more than in 2023.
Since April 2025, the consumer confidence indicator has remained stable: in June 2025, this indicator also stood at 0. Over the year (June 2025, compared to June 2024), the consumer confidence decreased by 7 percentage points. In June, compared to May, the population’s expectations for the changes in the household’s financial situation were the same: 24 per cent of population expected improvement in the household’s financial situation in the coming 12 months, 12 per cent expected deterioration (in May, 23 and 12 per cent respectively). In June, the proportion of population expecting improvement in the country’s economic situation in the coming 12 months accounted for 22 per cent. The share of population expecting deterioration made up 31 per cent. When asked how the amount of money intended to be spent on larger purchases, such as furniture or household appliances, will change in the coming 12 months, 26 per cent of the population intended to spend more than in the last 12 months, 15 per cent – to spend less (in May, 26 and 16 per cent respectively). 55 per cent of the population expected to make at least some savings in the coming 12 months, 16 per cent – did not expect to make any savings (in May, 55 and 13 per cent respectively).
In April 2025, crude oil resources, compared to the same period in 2024, decreased by 16.5, road transport diesel resources – 9.2 per cent. Natural gas and electricity resources dropped by 19.2 and 13.3 per cent respectively. Motor gasoline resources, in the said period, grew by 7.4 per cent.
In June 2025, against May, the economic sentiment indicator, i.e., confidence of economic actors – producers, consumers and investors – in Lithuania’s economy, increased to a minimum (grew from -0.5 to 0 per cent). The services confidence indicator increased from 6.5 to 10.6 per cent. The industry confidence indicator decreased from -6,5 to -8, construction – from -3.8 to -5.2, retail trade – from 5.6 to 4.3 per cent. The consumer confidence indicator remained almost unchanged (grew from 0.3 to 0.5 per cent). Compared to June 2024, economic sentiment indicator increased by 1.9 percentage points. The services confidence indicator increased by 8, construction – 4.4, industry – 2.1 percentage points. The consumer confidence indicator decreased by 6.1, retail trade – 4.5 percentage points.
