International trade in goods in March 2024
In March 2024, exports of goods amounted to EUR 3.08 billion, imports – EUR 3.4 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.96 billion. The international trade in goods deficit amounted to EUR 318.1 million.

Changes in prices for industrial production sold
In April 2024, against March, prices for the total industrial production sold and refined petroleum products excluded remained the same. The overall price change was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for chemicals and chemical products (1.4 per cent), as well as by a decrease in prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (1.9 per cent).

Changes in prices calculated based on harmonised index of consumer prices
In April 2024, according to the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which is methodologically harmonised with those of other EU member states, the calculated: average annual inflation stood at 3.8 per cent, average annual inflation calculated based on the consumer price index (CPI) – at 3.7 per cent annual inflation (April 2024, against April 2023) stood at 0.4 per cent, the CPI-based one – 0.1 per cent. Annual inflation calculated based on the HICP was mainly influenced by an increase in prices recorded for pharmaceutical products, services of restaurants, cafés and the like, tobacco, cars, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, fuels and lubricants, as well as by a decrease in prices observed for electricity, solid fuels, gas, heat energy. change in prices for consumer goods and services in April 2024, compared to March 2024, stood at 0.3 per cent, the CPI-based one – at 0.1 per cent.

Changes in prices for consumer goods and services
In April 2024, against March, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.1 per cent. This was mainly influenced by a price growth recorded for clothing, vegetables, package holidays, other financial services n.e.c., other appliances, articles and products for personal care, tobacco products, fuels and lubricants, footwear, as well as by a price drop observed for natural gas, heat energy, electricity.

Employment and unemployment in I quarter 2024
In I quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 8.2 per cent. State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) informs that based on data of the Labour Force Survey, in I quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 8.2 per cent and, compared to IV quarter 2023, increased by 0.8 percentage point, compared to I quarter 2023 – increased by 0.5 percentage point. In I quarter 2024, the male unemployment rate stood at 8.3, female – 8 per cent. The youth (persons aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 14.6 per cent and over a quarter decreased by 3.7 percentage points, over a year – by 1.5 percentage points. The long-term unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage point over a quarter and stood at 2.4 per cent in I quarter 2024, while compared to the respective period of 2023, it decreased by 0.6 percentage point.

Gross domestic product first estimate
In I quarter 2024, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 17.1 billion at current prices. The estimate was obtained through application of econometric models based on available statistical data. Compared to IV quarter 2023, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, was positive and stood at 0.8 per cent.
