Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises
In May, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 1.8 per cent, that of food and beverage service enterprises decreased by 1.3 per cent. Changes in prices calculated based on harmonised index of consumer prices
In May 2024, according to the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which is methodologically harmonised with those of other EU member states, the calculated: average annual inflation stood at 3 per cent, average annual inflation calculated based on the consumer price index (CPI) – at 2.8 per cent; annual inflation (May 2024, against May 2023) stood at 0.9 per cent, the CPI-based one – 0.5 per cent. Annual inflation calculated based on the HICP was mainly influenced by an increase in prices recorded for pharmaceutical products, services of restaurants, cafés and the like, fuels and lubricants, tobacco, cars, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, as well as by a decrease in prices observed for electricity, solid fuels, gas, coffee, tea and cocoa, heat energy. change in prices for consumer goods and services in May 2024, compared to April 2024, the same as the CPI-based one, stood at 0.3 per cent.

Changes in prices for industrial production sold
In May 2024, against April, prices for the total industrial production sold decreased by 1.3 per cent, refined petroleum products excluded – 0.3 per cent. The overall price change was mainly influenced by a decrease in prices for refined petroleum products (5.9 per cent), as well as by an increase in prices for fabricated metal products (0.4 per cent).

In May 2024, against April, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.3 per cent. This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices recorded for bread and cereals, heat energy, footwear, non-durable household goods, accommodation services, as well as by a decrease in prices observed for fuels and lubricants, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, electricity.
