Official statistics is an important part of a democratic society. It is necessary for political and economic decision-making at the national and EU level, facilitates the monitoring of the implementation thereof, evaluation of the progress achieved, informs the society on the economic, demographic and social processes, social and environmental changes taking place in the country.
The Lithuanian Statistical System comprises Statistics Lithuania and other bodies managing official statistics that in their activity follow Law on Official Statistics of the Republic of Lithuania and Part I of the Official Statistics Programme.
