Among other priorities The State Data Agency strategy for 2023–2027 focuses on the 3rd direction “Ensure symbiotic partnership“, which envisages active participation in the development of the global statistics and EU legislative process, strengthening of communication and cooperation on the global arena / international  scale, and sharing of best practices thereof.

Takeover Meeting from the Irish Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics to the Lithuanian Presidency was held in Cork, Ireland

 

On 26 June 2013, the handover meeting of the Irish Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics to the Lithuanian Presidency took place in Cork, Ireland. Delegations from the outgoing Irish and the incoming Lithuanian and the Trio partner Greek Presidency, as well as from the Commission (Eurostat) attended the meeting.

The Lithuanian delegation consisted of Mrs. Vilija Lapėnienė, Director General of Statistics Lithuania, Mr. Jonas Markelevičius, 1st Deputy Director General, future Chair of the Council Working Party on Statistics and Mrs. Audronė Miškinienė, Head of European Affairs and International Co-operation Division, future Co-chair. Lithuanian as well as the Irish Presidency teams exchanged latest information on the legislative dossiers with the Irish colleagues.

The Director General of the Greek statistical office Mr. Andreas Georgiou, who is planning to act as the Chair presented preparatory activities for the Presidency. The Commission was represented by Deputy Director General of Eurostat Ms. Marie Bohatá, and Adviser - Coordinator for Interinstitutional Relations Mr. Guillermo Davila Muro. The Commission thanked the Irish Presidency for the progress reached, however, clarifying from the Commission's point of view certain outcomes of legislative dossiers.

During the official session, all delegations had the chance to be informed about the work of the Council Working Party and the legislative files discussed from January 2013 until July 2013. Additionally, during the unofficial session, the outgoing and the incoming Presidencies shared their experiences and discussed the practicalities of holding the Presidency.
