Among other priorities The State Data Agency strategy for 2023–2027 focuses on the 3rd direction “Ensure symbiotic partnership“, which envisages active participation in the development of the global statistics and EU legislative process, strengthening of communication and cooperation on the global arena / international scale, and sharing of best practices thereof.
Seminar “From definitions to projections - A journey through the activities of Eurostat in demographic and migration statistics”
On 31 May, Statistics Lithuania and Demographic Research Centre of Vytautas Magnus University Organized seminar “From definitions to projections – A journey through the activities of Eurostat in demographic and migration statistics”. Speaker: Giampaolo Lanzieri, Senior Expert at the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), where he is leading the team responsible for demographic and migration statistics as well as population projections. He holds specialization in economics, statistics and social research. Dr Lanzieri has contributed in several UN Task Forces to various international recommendations related to statistics, such as population censuses, vital events, population projections, and circular migration. The aim of the seminar was to explain the work setting of Eurostat in this domain, to raise awareness of the challenges that must be dealt with to produce statistical information on population and projections, and to inform about the latest developments in the European Statistical System.
