In March 2024, against the same period in 2023, the amount of organic raw milk (actual fat content) purchased increased by 31.93, and the price – 5.73 per cent.

At the beginning of 2024, 402,303 economic entities, farmers and natural persons were operating in Lithuania. This is 12.7 per cent more than at the beginning of last year.

In the end of 2023, government debt totalled EUR 31.1 billion and, compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 8.6 per cent. Debt to domestic creditors accounted for 37 per cent, to foreign creditors - 63 per cent.

• At the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year, 477.4 thousand pupils and students, or almost every sixth Lithuanian resident, were studying in the country's educational institutions.

The share of economic entities with at least one employed person in March  2024, compared to the same period in  2023, increased by 6.14 per cent.

2024-04-10 Changes in prices calculated based on harmonised index of consumer prices In March 2024, according to the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which is methodologically harmonised with those of other EU member states, the calculated: average annual inflation, the same as calculated based on the consumer price index (CPI), stood at 4.8 per cent; annual inflation (March 2024, against March 2023) stood at 0.4 per cent, the CPI-based one is close to zero. Annual inflation calculated based on the HICP was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for pharmaceutical products, services of restaurants, cafés and the like, cars, tobacco, meat and meat products, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, canteens, as well as by a decrease in prices for electricity, solid fuels, heat energy, vegetables. change in prices for consumer goods and services in March 2024, compared to February 2024, stood at -0.1 per cent, the CPI-based one – at -0.2 per cent.
2024-04-10 Changes in prices for industrial production sold In March 2024, against February, prices for the total industrial production sold decreased by 0.6 per cent, refined petroleum products excluded – 0.5 per cent. The overall price change was mainly influenced by a decrease in prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (3.7 per cent), as well as by an increase in prices for chemicals and chemical products (2.1 per cent).
2024-04-09 International trade in goods in February 2024 In February 2024, exports of goods amounted to EUR 3.05 billion, imports – EUR 3.27 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.89 billion. The international trade in goods deficit amounted to EUR 213.9 million. Over the month (February 2024, against January 2024) exports decreased by 2 per cent, imports – 3.4 per cent. The decrease in exports was influenced by decrease in exports of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (16.2 per cent), cereals (39.9 per cent), plastics and articles thereof (12.8 per cent). The decrease in imports was determined by decrease in imports of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (21.7 per cent), organic chemicals (25.9 per cent), electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (6.7 per cent). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 0.6 per cent, imports – 2.6 per cent. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin decreased by 6.5 per cent, mineral products excluded – 6.4 per cent.
2024-04-09 Changes in prices for consumer goods and services In March 2024, against February, prices for consumer goods and services decreased by 0.2 per cent. This was mainly influenced by a decrease in prices recorded for electricity, heat energy, other appliances, articles and products for personal care, gas, as well as by an increase in prices observed for clothing and footwear, package holidays, passenger transport by air, tobacco products, medical services, pharmaceuticals, vegetables.
2024-04-05 General government deficit and debt In 2023, general government deficit stood at 0.8 per cent of GDP, debt – 38.3 per cent of GDP. The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) informs that based on provisional data, in 2023, general government deficit amounted to EUR 572.7 million, or 0.8 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP). In 2022, general government deficit was EUR 397.5 million, or 0.6 per cent of GDP.
