At the beginning of 2024, the resident population of Lithuania totalled 2 million 886 thousand, i.e. by 28.6 thousand less than at the beginning of 2023.

2024-05-06 Employment and unemployment in I quarter 2024 In I quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 8.2 per cent. State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) informs that based on data of the Labour Force Survey, in I quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 8.2 per cent and, compared to IV quarter 2023, increased by 0.8 percentage point, compared to I quarter 2023 – increased by 0.5 percentage point. In I quarter 2024, the male unemployment rate stood at 8.3, female – 8 per cent. The youth (persons aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 14.6 per cent and over a quarter decreased by 3.7 percentage points, over a year – by 1.5 percentage points. The long-term unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage point over a quarter and stood at 2.4 per cent in I quarter 2024, while compared to the respective period of 2023, it decreased by 0.6 percentage point.
