Statistics Lithuania has a new Director General


On 15 November, Dr. Jūratė Petrauskienė takes up her duties as Director General of Statistics Lithuania.


Chancellor of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania Algirdas Stončaitis introduced the new Director General, wished Statistics Lithuania to meet the high expectations of the users and repeatedly emphasized the importance of official statistics in decision making.

The new Director General expressed a hope to work in harmony with the staff of Statistics Lithuania. Jūratė Petrauskienė has been working at Statistics Lithuania since 2004. She started her career in the Price Statistics Division by calculating price indices, later worked in the Methodology and Quality Division and assessed the provisional GDP estimates and became Head of this Division in 2013.

Jūratė Petrauskienė holds a doctoral degree (PhD) in physical sciences; in 2011, she defended a dissertation “Poisson type approximations for sums of dependent variables”.
