Conference “Population censuses: experience and prospects”

On December 1, Statistics Lithuania hosted a joint conference of the Vytautas Magnus University, Research Council of Lithuania, and Statistics Lithuania "Population censuses: experience and prospects". The conference was organised within the framework of a research project "Changes in the sociodemographic structure of the Lithuania's population in the context of depopulation processes", funded by the Research Council of Lithuania.

At the conference, the project and its result – a publication Population Changes in Lithuania. What Do Population Censuses Reveal, produced by six researchers of the Vytautas Magnus University based on statistics from eight population and housing censuses of Lithuania, – were presented. Presentations on previous population censuses of Lithuania and their prospects, changes in the structure of the population and demographic processes, changes in the structure of educational attainment and sociodemographic differences were made by Dalia Ambrozaitienė, Vlada Stankūnienė, Marytė Baublytė, and Daumantas Stumbrys.

The conference is dedicated to the European Statistics Day.
