Classification of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS)

Regulation (EC) No 1059/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council (as last amended by Commission Delegated Regulation 2019/1755) establishes a common classification of territorial units for statistics (NUTS) for the collection, compilation and dissemination of harmonized regional statistics in the EU.

In the NUTS classification, each EU country is subdivided into territorial units of NUTS levels 1–3 taking into account population in the relevant territorial unit:
