Among other priorities The State Data Agency strategy for 2023–2027 focuses on the 3rd direction “Ensure symbiotic partnership“, which envisages active participation in the development of the global statistics and EU legislative process, strengthening of communication and cooperation on the global arena / international  scale, and sharing of best practices thereof.

First Council Working Party on Statistics under the Lithuanian Presidency

 

The first Council Working Party on Statistics under the Lithuanian Presidency was held in Brussels on Friday 19 July 2013.

The first issue on the meeting agenda was Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Regulation (EC) No 691/2011 on European environmental economic accounts. Examination of the Presidency compromise. The CWPS will continue examination of the document in September 13 meeting.  

In the afternoon the agenda covered Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on European Statistics on Demography [First reading]. Presidency debriefing on the final trilogue and approval of the outcome. Vast majority of Member States supported the outcome. The Presidency intends to seek approval from Coreper I in September.

The third item on the agenda was the Amendment of Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 on European statistics. Exchange of views on the outcome of the trilogue negotiations. The Presidency is waiting for the results of the joint hearing by 23 July. The Delegations will be informed about the outcome and further steps to be taken.

Under AOB information on  the modified compromise package reflecting the outcome of the discussion in Coreper I on 4 July on the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending certain legislative acts in the domain of agricultural and fishery statistics – Approval of the final compromise text.  The  Presidency invited delegations to provide comments by close of business on Friday, 2 August. The modified compromise package reflects the outcome of the discussion in Coreper I on 4 July and would permit a first-reading agreement on the file. The Presidency intends to seek approval from Coreper I in early September. 

The 2nd issue under AOB was information on written hearing  (consultation) on the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the provision and quality of statistics for the macroeconomic imbalances procedure (MIP) launched on 6 July. Member States have to send their positions by 25 July. First general discussions and examination is foreseen in 13 September CWPS meeting.
