In II quarter 2024, against the same period of 2023, the number of economic entities registered in the country decreased by 0.4 per cent, the number of bankruptcies increased by 5.7 per cent.

Based on the data of the Labour Force Survey, in II quarter 2024, the employment rate of the population aged 20–64 stood at 79.8 per cent.

Based on provisional data, at the beginning of August 2024, 2 million 893 thousand residents were living in Lithuania, which is by 6.9 thousand more than at the beginning of the 2024.

37,005 persons died in Lithuania in 2023. Of them: 18.1 thousand men and 18.9 thousand women.

In August 2024, the minimum monthly wage – EUR 924, the minimum hourly pay – EUR 5.65.

2024-08-09 Changes in prices for industrial production sold In July 2024, against June, prices for the total industrial production sold and refined petroleum products excluded increased by 0.5 per cent. The overall price change was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (3.2 per cent), as well as by a decrease in prices for wood and products of wood and cork (except furniture) (0.7 per cent).
2024-08-09 International trade in goods in June 2024 2024 m. birželį prekių eksportuota už 2,95 mlrd. EUR, importuota už 3,36 mlrd. EUR. Lietuviškos kilmės prekių eksportuota už 1,93 mlrd. EUR. Tarptautinės prekybos prekėmis deficitas sudarė 409,9 mln. EUR. Per mėnesį (2024 m. birželį, palyginti su 2024 m. geguže) eksportas sumažėjo 8,6 proc., importas – 4,4 proc. Eksporto sumažėjimui įtakos turėjo kritęs mineralinio kuro, mineralinių alyvų ir jų distiliavimo produktų (16,6 proc.), antžeminio transporto priemonių (22,4 proc.), baldų (11 proc.) eksportas. Importo sumažėjimą lėmė sumažėjęs antžeminio transporto priemonių (13,5 proc.), organinių chemijos produktų (45,2 proc.), elektros mašinų ir įrangos bei jų dalių (5,8 proc.) importas. Prekių, išskyrus mineralinius produktus, eksportas sumažėjo 7 proc., importas – 7,3 proc. Lietuviškos kilmės prekių eksportas sumažėjo 10,6 proc., be mineralinių produktų – 6 proc.
2024-08-08 Changes in prices for consumer goods and services In July 2024, against June, prices for consumer goods and services decreased by 0.1 per cent. This was mainly influenced by a price drop recorded for clothing and vegetables, as well as by a price growth observed for package holidays, passenger transport by air, fuels and lubricants, accommodation services.
2024-08-05 Employment and unemployment in II quarter 2024 In II quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent. The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) informs that based on data of the Labour Force Survey, in II quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent and, compared to I quarter 2024, decreased by 1.3 percentage points, compared to II quarter 2023 – increased by 1 per cent. In II quarter 2024, the male unemployment rate stood at 7.6, female – 6.3 per cent. The youth (persons aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 16.9 per cent and over a quarter increased by 2.3 percentage points, over a year – by 8.4 percentage points. The long-term unemployment rate decreased by 0.5 percentage points over a quarter and stood at 1.9 per cent in II quarter 2024, while compared to the respective period of 2023, it decreased by 0.1 percentage point.
2024-07-30 Gross domestic product first estimate In II quarter 2024, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 18.7 billion at current prices. The estimate was obtained through application of econometric models based on available statistical data. Compared to I quarter 2024, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, was positive and stood at 0.9 per cent.
