2024-08-05 Employment and unemployment in II quarter 2024 In II quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent. The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) informs that based on data of the Labour Force Survey, in II quarter 2024, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent and, compared to I quarter 2024, decreased by 1.3 percentage points, compared to II quarter 2023 – increased by 1 per cent. In II quarter 2024, the male unemployment rate stood at 7.6, female – 6.3 per cent. The youth (persons aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 16.9 per cent and over a quarter increased by 2.3 percentage points, over a year – by 8.4 percentage points. The long-term unemployment rate decreased by 0.5 percentage points over a quarter and stood at 1.9 per cent in II quarter 2024, while compared to the respective period of 2023, it decreased by 0.1 percentage point.
2024-07-30 Gross domestic product first estimate In II quarter 2024, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 18.7 billion at current prices. The estimate was obtained through application of econometric models based on available statistical data. Compared to I quarter 2024, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, was positive and stood at 0.9 per cent.

2024-07-10 International trade in goods in May 2024 In May 2024, exports of goods amounted to EUR 3.23 billion, imports – EUR 3.51 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 2.14 billion. The international trade in goods deficit amounted to EUR 275.2 million. Over the month (May 2024, against April 2024) exports increased by 0.3 per cent, imports decreased by 1.3 per cent. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (10.1 per cent), ground vehicles (8.3 per cent), plastics and articles thereof (7.5 per cent). The decrease in imports was determined by decrease in imports of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (10.8 per cent), miscellaneous chemical products (38.8 per cent), machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (9.2 per cent). Mineral products excluded, exports and imports decreased by 1.6 and 3 per cent respectively. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 4.5 per cent, mineral products excluded increased by 1.6 per cent.
