Based on preliminary data, in 2024, expenditures on pensions made up EUR 5.8 billion, or by 13 per cent more than in 2023.

According to revised data, in 2023, in Lithuania, the amount of EUR 774.7 million was allocated for R&D activities. Compared to 2022, R&D expenditures increased by EUR 64.4 million, or by 9.1 per cent. In 2023, as in 2022, R&D expenditure accounted for 1.05 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

In I quarter 2025, the number of overnight stays totalled 2 million 48 thousand, or by 37.7 per cent more than in the same period a year ago. One guest stayed in an accommodation establishment for, on average, 2.6 nights.

In I quarter 2025, investments in long-term tangible assets in the country amounted to EUR 2.3 billion and, compared to I quarter 2024, increased by 8.1 per cent at constant prices.

In April 2025, the number of passengers who arrived at and departed from Lithuanian airports amounted to 602.1 thousand, which is by 11.7 per cent more than in the same period last year.

Based on provisional data, in April 2025, industrial production totalled EUR 2.9 billion at current prices and, compared to March 2025, seasonally and calendar adjusted, decreased by 3 per cent at constant prices.

In 2024, average gross monthly earnings in the whole economy totalled EUR 2,223 and, compared to 2023, increased by 10.4 per cent: in the public sector, average gross monthly earnings totalled EUR 2,402.2 (increased by 13.5 per cent), in the private sector – EUR 2,151.3 (increased by 9 per cent).

2025-05-12 Changes in prices for industrial production sold Prices for the total industrial production sold decreased for the second consecutive month – in April 2025, against March 2025, by 1.9 per cent, refined petroleum products excluded – 1 per cent. The overall price change was mainly influenced by a decrease in prices for refined petroleum products (6.3 per cent), as well as by increase in prices for food products (0.5 per cent).
2025-05-09 International trade in goods in March 2025 In March 2025, exports of goods amounted to EUR 3.25 billion, imports – EUR 3.91 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 2.22 billion. The international trade in goods deficit amounted to EUR 665.8 million. Over the month (March 2025, against February 2025) exports increased by 14.1, imports – 13 per cent. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (27.7 per cent), ground vehicles (17.9 per cent), pharmaceutical products (27.8 per cent). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in importos of ground vehicles (30.8 per cent), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (18.4 per cent), mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (7.3 per cent). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 11.7 per cent, imports – 14.4 per cent. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 11 per cent, mineral products excluded – 9.4 per cent.
2025-05-09 Changes in prices for consumer goods and services In April 2025, against March, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.1 per cent. This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for package holidays, clothing, vegetables, non-durable household articles, passenger transport by air, footwear, as well as a decrease in prices for heat energy, fuels and lubricants, electricity, motor cars.
2025-05-06 Employment and unemployment in I quarter 2025 In I quarter 2025, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent. The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) informs that based on data of the Labour Force Survey, in I quarter 2025, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent and, compared to IV quarter 2024, increased by 0.4 percentage point, compared to I quarter 2024 – decreased by 1.3 percentage points. In I quarter 2025, the male unemployment rate stood at 8, female – 5.7 per cent. The youth (persons aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 13.2 per cent and, over a quarter, increased by 0.1 percentage point, over a year, decreased by 1.4 percentage points. Over a quarter, the long-term unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage point and, in I quarter 2025, stood at 2.5 per cent, while compared to the respective period of 2024, it increased by 0.1 percentage point.
