In I quarter 2025, the employment rate of the population aged 20–64 accounted for 79.1 per cent and, compared to IV quarter 2024, decreased by 0.5 percentage point, against the corresponding period in 2024, increased by 1.4 percentage points.

Based on provisional data, at the beginning of May 2025, 2 million 891 thousand residents were living in Lithuania, which is by 0.5 thousand more than at the beginning of 2025.

At the beginning of 2025, the resident population of Lithuania totalled 2 million 891 thousand, i.e. by 4.8 thousand more than at the beginning of 2024.

According to the data of the Survey on Agriculture Structure, in 2023, the area of crops amounted to 2 million 60.7 thousand hectares, cultivated by 83.7 thousand farms.

In May 2025, the minimum monthly wage is EUR 1,038, the minimum hourly pay – EUR 6.35.

2025-05-09 International trade in goods in March 2025 In March 2025, exports of goods amounted to EUR 3.25 billion, imports – EUR 3.91 billion. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 2.22 billion. The international trade in goods deficit amounted to EUR 665.8 million. Over the month (March 2025, against February 2025) exports increased by 14.1, imports – 13 per cent. The increase in exports was influenced by an increase in exports of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (27.7 per cent), ground vehicles (17.9 per cent), pharmaceutical products (27.8 per cent). The increase in imports was determined by an increase in importos of ground vehicles (30.8 per cent), machinery and mechanical appliances, parts thereof (18.4 per cent), mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (7.3 per cent). Mineral products excluded, exports increased by 11.7 per cent, imports – 14.4 per cent. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin increased by 11 per cent, mineral products excluded – 9.4 per cent.
2025-05-09 Changes in prices for consumer goods and services In April 2025, against March, prices for consumer goods and services increased by 0.1 per cent. This was mainly influenced by an increase in prices for package holidays, clothing, vegetables, non-durable household articles, passenger transport by air, footwear, as well as a decrease in prices for heat energy, fuels and lubricants, electricity, motor cars.
2025-05-06 Employment and unemployment in I quarter 2025 In I quarter 2025, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent. The State Data Agency (Statistics Lithuania) informs that based on data of the Labour Force Survey, in I quarter 2025, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9 per cent and, compared to IV quarter 2024, increased by 0.4 percentage point, compared to I quarter 2024 – decreased by 1.3 percentage points. In I quarter 2025, the male unemployment rate stood at 8, female – 5.7 per cent. The youth (persons aged 15–24) unemployment rate stood at 13.2 per cent and, over a quarter, increased by 0.1 percentage point, over a year, decreased by 1.4 percentage points. Over a quarter, the long-term unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage point and, in I quarter 2025, stood at 2.5 per cent, while compared to the respective period of 2024, it increased by 0.1 percentage point.
2025-04-30 Gross domestic product first estimate In I quarter 2025, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to EUR 18.6 billion at current prices. The estimate was obtained through application of econometric models based on available statistical data. Compared to IV quarter 2024, the real GDP change, seasonally and calendar adjusted, was positive and stood at 0.6 per cent.
2025-04-28 Turnover of retail trade and catering enterprises In March, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased by 0.9 per cent, of food and beverage service enterprises – 0.7 per cent. Based on provisional data, in March 2025, the turnover (VAT excluded) of retail trade enterprises amounted to EUR 1 billion 637 million at current prices and, against February 2025, seasonally and calendar adjusted, increased by 0.9 per cent at constant prices.

2025-04-25 Young people on the labour market and educational attainment The State data Agency informs that based on The Youth in the Labour Market and Educational Attainment Statistical Survey, in 2024, 61.6 per cent of persons aged 15–34 were employed (64.8 per cent of men and 58.1 per cent of women). The unemployed persons in this age group accounted for 5.9 per cent (6 per cent of men and 5.7 per cent of women), while economically inactive persons made up 32.5 per cent of this age group (29.1 per cent of men and 36.2 per cent of women).
