Over the past ten years (in 2012–2021), 662.8 thousand of the resident population changed their permanent place of residence within the country.
Last year, 64.7 thousand country’s residents, or 2.3 per cent of the resident population, changed their permanent place of residence within the country. Against 2020, the number of internal migrants decreased by 5.9 thousand (8.3 per cent).
The crude arrival/departure rates (the number of arrivals/departures per 1,000 population) decreased from 25.3 in 2020 to 23.1 in 2021.

Over the past ten years (in 2012–2021), 389.4 thousand of the resident population changed their permanent place of residence to urban areas, and 273.4 thousand – to rural areas.
Last year, more than half (36.1 thousand, or 55.8 per cent) of the country's residents changed their usual place of residence to urban areas, and 28.6 thousand (44.2 per cent) – to rural areas (in 2020, 41.5 thousand, or 58.7 per cent, and 29.1 thousand, or 41.3 per cent respectively).

For the last ten years (2012–2021), each second resident of the country who has changed his/her usual place of residence within the country was aged 18–39.
In 2021, 35.4 per cent of all male migrants within the country aged 18 and older were never married, 47 per cent – were married, 17.6 per cent – divorced and widowed (in 2020, 38.2, 46.7 and 15.1 per cent respectively). Last year, 31.3 per cent of all female migrants within the country aged 18 and older were never married, 45.2 per cent – were married, 23.5 per cent – divorced and widowed (in 2020, 29.6, 50 and 20.4 per cent respectively).
