Eurostat Open consultation - ‘Have your say about labour market statistics on businesses in the European Union’

The above-mentioned open consultation gives you the opportunity to have your voice heard regarding the production of data on earnings, labour costs and job vacancies in the EU.

Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, is currently reviewing the framework for the production of comparable data on earnings, labour costs and job vacancies. These data help the EU to design appropriate policies in the area of macroeconomic convergence, social cohesion, price stability and gender equality, and they help citizens understand and compare the situation in the different EU Member States.

The production of European labour market statistics on businesses faces the following challenges:

  • new data needs and expectations from users

  • the need to correct existing biases by extending the scope to parts of the economy not yet covered

  • the increased use of new data sources (such as administrative data or data accessed using new technologies) which require proper reporting for statistical purposes

  • the need to secure the transmission of annual gender pay gap data by replacing the current voluntary collection by a transmission regulated under EU law.

The European Commission invites you to make your voice heard and help the EU improve its methods of producing data on European society. Please take 10 minutes to reply to the questionnaire (at the link below) which assesses the issues concerned and the impact of possible solutions.
