In 2022 and 2021 strikes were not organised. This chapter covers statistical data on strikes in 2015–2019. Over the said period, the number of strikes organized in the country totalled 737, of which 346 warning strikes and 391 actual strikes. Average number of employees involved in strikes amounted to 26,934 (in warning strikes – 17 thousand, in actual strikes – 10 thousand).
In 2019, two warning strikes were organized with participation of 6,810 employees.
In II quarter 2019, employees of health care divisions of imprisonment institutions organised a branch-level warning strike with participation of 44 employees. The largest number (3) of the institutions participating in the strike was registered in Kaunas county. Participants who went on this strike indicated the following reasons for their protest: disagreements on the initiated reorganisation of health care divisions in imprisonment institutions and wage, financing of imprisonment institutions, etc.
In IV quarter 2019, employees of institutions engaged in education and professional, scientific and technical activities organised a branch-level warning strike with participation of 6,766 employees. The largest number of institutions participating in the strike was in Šiauliai (40), Telšiai (37) and Vilnius (36) counties. Employees of the education and scientific institutions who went on the warning strike indicated the following reasons for their protest: disagreements regarding the amendment of the collective agreement on education and science sector, salary, etc.

Since 2000, when statistical information on strikes started to be collected, until the end of 2019, 1,372 strikes (of which 739 warning and 633 actual strikes) were organised with participation of 54.5 thousand employees (33.4 thousand – in warning, 20.7 thousand – in actual strikes).
