In 2022, the number of divorces registered amounted to 7.4 thousand, i.e. by 0.4 thousand divorces (5.5 per cent) less than in 2021. In 2020, the crude. In 2022, the crude divorce rate (the number of divorces per 1,000 population) stood at 2.6 (in 2021, 2.8).

In 2022, more than half (54.9 per cent) of divorced couples had common children aged under 18. After divorce, 6 thousand children were left in the family without one of the parents, (in 2021, 6.2 thousand). In 2013-2022, 67 thousand children were living in incomplete families.

In 2022, the average duration of the former marriage was 13 years. 16.2 per cent of couples divorced after less than 10 years of marriage, 10.2 per cent – during the second decade of marriage, 4.4 per cent – after more than 25 years of marriage.

In 2022, the number of divorces per 100 marriages stood at 46.2 (in 2021, 46.6). The ratio of marriages to divorces is more precisely reflected by the total divorce rate, which is calculated taking into account the duration of the previous marriage. If the previous year’s ratio does not change, it is probable that, out of 100 couples, 34 will get divorced (in 2013, 44).
