In 2022, 42.9 thousand deaths were registered. Against 2021, the number of deaths decresed by 4.9 thousand, or 10.2 per cent. The number of deaths per thousand population increased from 14 in 2013 to 15.1 in 2022.

In 2022, deaths of persons aged 65 and older accounted for 78.4 per cent (68.1 per cent of all deaths among men and 87.8 per cent of all deaths among women), 21.3 per cent of all deaths were deaths of persons aged 15–64 (31.6 per cent of all deaths among men and 12 per cent of all deaths among women).

In 2022, age-standardised death rates for males were 1.8 times as high as those for females, for the rural population – 1.3 times as high as those for the urban one (in 2021, 1.8 and 1.2 times respectively).
