Utilised agricultural land

 

In 2020, utilised agricultural area amounted to 2.9 million hectares. Arable land accounted for the largest share (2.2 million hectares). In 2020, against 2019, utilised agricultural area decreased by 1.1 per cent.

Agricultural crops

 

In 2020, sown area of agricultural crops amounted to 2.2 million hectares. Sown area of farmers’ and family farms made up 83.7, that of agricultural companies and enterprises – 16.3 per cent of total sown area. Compared to 2019, sown area increased by 2 per cent.

In 2020, against 2019, grain harvest increased by 25.9 per cent due to an increase in yield (by 23.8 per cent) and harvested area (by 1.6 per cent).

Harvest of winter cereals increased by 26.0 per cent. This was determined by an increase in yield and harvested area – by 23.5 and 2.2 per cent respectively. Harvest of spring cereals increased by 24.6 per cent. This was determined by a 20.8 per cent increase in yield and a 3.0 per cent increase in harvested area.

A decrease in sugar beet harvest (5.3 per cent) was determined by a 4.5 per cent decrease in yield and a 0.7 per cent decrease in harvested area.

Harvest of potatoes decreased by 10.2 per cent due to a 13.2 per cent decrease in yield, although harvested area increased by 3.2 per cent.
