In 2020, the main source of cash income of two out of three (65 per cent) households was income from employment. Income from paid employment was indicated as the main source of income by 59 per cent of households. 33 per cent of households indicated social transfers social transfers as the main source of income. Compared to 2019, relative share of households living on income from employment slightly increased, share of households living on social transfers decreased respectively.
Particularly large number of persons living on social transfers was recorded in households composed of a single person and in those composed of two adults, at least one aged 65 and older. Old-age benefits were indicated as the main source of income by 64 per cent of households composed of two adults, at least one aged 65 and older, and by 46 per cent of households composed of a single person, while other social transfers – by 4 and 7 per cent respectively.
In 2020, social transfers were indicated as the main source of income by 33 per cent of households in rural areas; compared to 2019, the said share decreased by 3 percentage points.
