In 2023, 89 per cent of persons aged 16–74 used the Internet (in 2022, 88 per cent). The Internet is less often used by older persons than the youth. In the 16–24 age group, persons using the Internet accounted for 100 per cent, in the 65–74 age group – 65 per cent. Compared to the previous year, the number of persons aged 65–74 using the Internet grew by 8 percentage points.

83 per cent of persons aged 16–74 used the Internet daily (94 per cent of internauts in this age group), 4 per cent – at least once a week but not daily (5 per cent of internauts in this age group). Thus, persons using the Internet at least once a week accounted for 87 per cent of the population aged 16–74, or 99 per cent of internauts in this age group.

In 2023, 94 per cent of internauts aged 16–74 used mobile phones for browsing on the Internet, more than half of internet users (57 per cent) – laptops, one in four (27 per cent) internet users – desktop computers, 23 per cent – tablet computers. Other devices (smart TV, e-book reader, smart watch, etc.) were used to connect to the Internet by 29 per cent of internauts.


The Internet was mainly used for communication, information search, reading news and banking services: 85 per cent of persons aged 16–74 (95 per cent of internauts in this age group) used the Internet for communication, 75 per cent (85 per cent of internauts) – for searching information about goods and services, 81 per cent (91 per cent of internauts) – for reading news, 76 per cent (86 per cent of internauts) – for the Internet banking services. 33 per cent (37 per cent of internauts in this age group) used the Internet for learning, upskilling or self-education purposes.

In 2023, 72 per cent of the population aged 16–74 (83 per cent of internauts in this age group) used electronic services provided by public authorities or other public service institutions at least once in the last 12 months. The highest use of these services was among persons aged 25–34 (96 per cent), and the lowest (32 per cent) – among persons aged 65–74. 62 per cent of the population used the websites of public authorities or public service institutions to access their personal records (e.g. to access the electronic information system for health, the State Social Insurance Fund Board information system, etc.), 53 per cent  of persons aged 16–74 filed their income tax return online, 49 per cent of persons made appointment or reservation (i.e. reservation of book in the library). One in six persons applied online for official documents or certificates (e.g. graduation, birth, marriage, divorce certificates, etc.), slightly smaller proportion of the population (15 per cent) applied for a benefit (pension, child benefit) or admission to kindergarten or school. Persons who did not submit any applications or claims via the websites of public authorities or public services cited the main reason for not doing so as that there was no need (86 per cent of internauts who did not submit any applications or claims online). Other reasons included lack of knowledge and skills (10 per cent), having someone else do it on their behalf (3 per cent), having no electronic identification (2 per cent).

Social media tools were used for work purposes by 56.6 per cent of enterprises in 2023: 88.5 per cent – in large enterprises, 68.5 per cent – in medium-sized enterprises, 52.8 per cent – in small-sized enterprises. 56.6 per cent of enterprises had accounts in social networks, 20.1 per cent – disseminated information on multimedia content exchange websites, 5.4 per cent – had enterprise blogs. Social media tools were mostly used to develop the enterprise's image or market products (45.3 per cent), obtain or respond to customer opinions, reviews, questions (29.6 per cent), and recruit employees (24.1 per cent).
