In 2019, in the production of primary energy, firewood, wood and agricultural waste accounted for the main part – 61.6 per cent, hydropower, wind, solar, geothermal energy and energy from chemical processes – 21.5 per cent.

Final consumption of fuel and energy, 2015–2019
Terajoule
In 2019, against 2018, final energy consumption slightly decreased (0.2 per cent). The largest energy consumption was recorded in transport and household sectors – 40.9 and 25.9 per cent respectively. In 2019, compared to 2018, energy consumption in transport sector increased by 3.1 per cent, while in households – decreased by 3.9 per cent.

Energy commodities balances
In 2019, against 2018, electricity demand in Lithuania increased by 1.3 per cent and amounted to 13.3 TWh. In 2019, to satisfy the country’s needs, 70 per cent of electricity was imported, 3.97 TWh of electricity was produced in the country. Production of electricity in the country increased by 13.1 per cent. In 2019, 62.2 per cent of total electricity was produced from renewable energy sources.
