Over 2022, gross earnings in the whole economy increased by 13.3 per cent.

In 2022, average gross monthly earnings in the whole economy (individual enterprises included) totalled EUR 1,789 and, compared to 2021, increased by 13.3 per cent: in the public sector, average gross monthly earnings totalled EUR 1,870 (increased by 10.5 per cent), in the private sector – EUR 1,756.2 (increased by 14.6 per cent).

Over the year, average gross monthly earnings in the whole economy increased in enterprises, institutions and organizations of all economic activities – from 8.3 (human health care and social work activities) to 19.8 per cent (accommodation and food service activities).

Average net (after employee tax) monthly earnings in the whole economy amounted to EUR 1,121.1 and, against 2021, increased by 11.9 per cent: in the public sector, it amounted to EUR 1,167.2 (increased by 9.5 per cent), in the private sector – EUR 1,102.4 (increased by 13.1 per cent).

In 2022, against 2021, index of real earnings in the whole economy made up 93.5 per cent: in the public sector – 91.5, in the private sector – 94.5 per cent. The decrease in real earnings was determined by faster growth in consumer prices than net earnings.

Increase in earnings in 2022 was influenced by the increased basic wages for politicians, judges, civil servants, public service employees and employees of budgetary institutions, increased minimum monthly wage, changes in the procedure for the calculation of the tax-exempt amount of income, and other reasons.
