During the study, residents were asked to give assessment of their health. The survey results showed that 44 per cent of the residents considered their health as good or very good, 41 per cent – as neither good nor bad, 15 per cent – as bad or very bad.
The assessment of health by older persons was considerably worse than that of younger persons. The majority (91 per cent) of persons aged 16–24 considered their health as good or very good, while among persons aged 65 and older, the figure stood at 10 per cent. 37 per cent of persons aged 65 and older considered their health as bad or very bad.
Assessment of health by urban population was slightly better than that by rural population. This could be influenced by different composition of the population by age: a relatively larger proportion of the older population was recorded in rural areas.
