Final consumption of fuel and energy

In 2019, against 2018, final energy consumption slightly decreased (0.2 per cent). The largest energy consumption was recorded in transport and household sectors – 40.9 and 25.9 per cent respectively. In 2019, compared to 2018, energy consumption in transport sector increased by 3.1 per cent, while in households – decreased by 3.9 per cent.

In the transport sector, the largest portion of consumption was made up of diesel (1.67 million tonnes), in the household sector – of biofuel (2.36 million m3) and centrally supplied heat (5.2 terawatt-hours (TWh)).

In 2019, fuel consumption in road transport sector amounted to over 2 million tonnes, of which road diesel accounted for 82.9 per cent, motor gasoline – 12.3 per cent, liquefied gas – 4.8 per cent. In recent years, road diesel has been gaining in popularity:

in 2019, compared to 2018, the consumption thereof in road transport sector grew by 4.2 per cent. Motor gasoline demand increased by 5.4 per cent, while liquefied petroleum gas demand decreased by 3.4 per cent.
