Final consumption of fuel and energy

In 2020, against 2019, final energy consumption decreased (4.3 per cent). The largest energy consumption was recorded in transport and household sectors – 41 and 26.8 per cent respectively. In 2020, compared to 2019, energy consumption in transport sector decreased by 4.1 per cent, and in households – by 0.9 per cent.

In the transport sector, the largest portion of consumption was made up of diesel (1.65 million tonnes), in the household sector – of biofuel (2.35 million m3) and centrally supplied heat (4.9 terawatt-hours (TWh)).

In 2020, fuel consumption in road transport amounted to almost 2 million tonnes, of which road diesel accounted for 82.9, motor gasoline – 12.6, liquefied gas – 4.5 per cent. In recent years, compared to 2019, the consumption of diesel fuel dropped by 0.7 per cent. The demand of motor gasoline increased by 1.7 per cent, while liquefied gas demand decreased by 7.9 per cent.
