Final consumption of fuel and energy
In 2021, against 2020, final energy consumption decreased (7.2 per cent). The largest energy consumption was recorded in transport and household sectors – 38.7 and 28.5 per cent respectively. In 2021, compared to 2020, energy consumption in transport sector decreased by 1.2 per cent, and in households – by 13.7 per cent.
In the transport sector, the largest portion of consumption was made up of diesel (1.68 million tonnes), in the household sector – of biofuel (2.36 million m3) and centrally supplied heat (5.8 terawatt-hours (TWh)).
In 2021, fuel consumption in road transport amounted more than 2 million tonnes, of which road diesel accounted for 83.2, motor gasoline – 12.6, liquefied gas – 4.2 per cent. In recent years, compared to 2020, the consumption of diesel fuel increased by 1.3 per cent. The demand of motor gasoline increased by 0.6 per cent, while liquefied gas demand decreased by 4.6 per cent.

Energy prices
Extracted crude oil prices
In III quarter 2022, the price of extracted oil was EUR 532.85 per 1 m3. Compared to I quarter 2022, the price decreased by EUR 22.81. The lowest price for extracted oil was recorded in I quarter 2016 (EUR 180.99 per 1 m3), the highest – in II quarter 2022 (EUR 657.61 per 1 m3).
Average selling price per cubic metre of oil extracted at the point of extraction for the calculation of oil resource tax in accordance with Article 6(2) of the Law on Hydrocarbon Resources Tax of the Republic of Lithuania.
