Although 89 per cent of households were living in their own houses or apartments, 22 per cent of the population were living in dwellings with less than one room per person¹: in urban areas – 25 per cent, in rural areas – 18 per cent.
Household expenditure on housing maintenance (rent, payment for electricity, gas, heating, water supply or other utilities, interest on mortgage, housing insurance, allowances for heating and water supply) made up 8.3 per cent of the disposable income. Compared to 2020, share of disposable income spent on housing maintenance decreased by 0.8 percentage points. The largest share of disposable income spent on housing maintenance was recorded for one-person households (12.7 per cent). Housing expenditure of households living below the at-risk-of-poverty threshold accounted for 22 per cent of disposable income.
