The difference between at-risk-of-poverty rate before social transfers and risk-of-poverty rate shows the impact of social transfers on reduction of the risk of poverty. With the deduction of social transfers (except old-age and survivors’ benefits) from disposable income, the at-risk-of-poverty rate would increase to 30.9 per cent in 2021. Against the previous year, the impact of social transfers on the at-risk-of-poverty rate grew from 8.7 to 10.9 percentage points. Social transfers had the greatest impact on the at-risk-of-poverty rate for children: in 2021, after the deduction of social transfers, the at-risk-of-poverty rate for children under 18 would increase from 17.2 to 37.6 per cent.
