In 2020, the crop area of farms larger than 1 ha totalled 2 million 175.9 thousand ha, the number of farms growing crops totalled 120.0 thousand. Compared to 2010, the crop area increased by 9 per cent, and the number of farms larger than 1 ha growing crops decreased by 34 per cent.
In 2020, the crop area per farmer’s and family farm amounted to, on average, 15.3 ha, agricultural company and enterprise – about 526.5 ha.

Over the decade, the largest increase was observed in area under leguminous crops (more than 2 times), flax (60 per cent), cereals (34 per cent) and rape (11 per cent). Meanwhile, the area under fodder root decreased by 90, annual and perennial grasslands – 54, potatoes – 54, field vegetables and strawberries – 9, sugar beet – 2 per cent.

In 2020, compared to 2010, the relative share of cereals, leguminous crops and rape in the crop structure increased: in 2010, area under cereals made up 52 per cent of the total crop area, in 2020 – 64 per cent; in 2010, area under leguminous crops made up 3 per cent of the total crop area, in 2020 – 6 per cent; in 2010, area under rape made up 12 per cent of the total crop area, in 2020 – 13 per cent. The relative share of sugar beet, flax and fodder roots in the crop structure remained unchanged, while the relative share of temporary and permanent grasses, potatoes, vegetables and strawberries decreased.

In 2020, compared to 2010, the number of farms with the crop area of less than 50 ha decreased by 36 per cent (63.7 thousand), while the number of farms with the crop area of 50 ha and more increased by 27 per cent.
