In the survey, the residents were asked to rate their satisfaction with life on an 11‑point scale (from 0 to 10). In 2022, the average life satisfaction rate stood at 7.1 points. The highest life satisfaction rate was recorded in the 16–24 age group – 7.9 points. Life satisfaction decreases with age.
In 2022, almost half (48.7 per cent) of the total population aged 16 and older rated their life as highly satisfactory (8–10 points). Compared to 2021, this proportion increased by 1.7 percentage points. 68.1 per cent of the population aged 16–24 and 37.2 per cent of the population aged 65 and older rated their life satisfaction as high.
The higher the household income, the higher the life satisfaction. In the fifth (the richest) income quintile group, only 1.2 per cent of the persons rated their life satisfaction as low (0 to 4 points). In the first income quintile group, the proportion of such persons made up 16.9 per cent. Lower level of life satisfaction in the first income quintile group could also be due to the fact that many people of retirement age fall into this group.
