In 2019, turnover (VAT excluded) of transportation, accommodation and service activities totalled EUR 26 billion at current prices and, compared to 2018, increased by 12 per cent.

In 2019, turnover (VAT excluded) of enterprises in transportation and storage activities totalled EUR 12.5 billion at current prices and increased by 12.9 per cent compared to 2018. The largest increase was in the enterprises of land transport and transport via pipelines, also enterprises of warehousing and support activities for transportation – 15.6 per cent and 10.2 per cent respectively.

In 2019, turnover (VAT excluded) of accommodation enterprises totalled EUR 315.7 million at current prices, or 12.4 per cent more compared to the previous year.

In 2019, turnover (VAT excluded) of service enterprises totalled EUR 13 billion and, compared to 2018, increased by 11.2 per cent. Turnover especially increased in the enterprises of information service – by 38.1 per cent, activities of head offices and management consultancy – 23.9 per cent, architectural and engineering activities, technical testing and analysis – 23.7 per cent. However, turnover (VAT excluded) also decreased in some activities: veterinary enterprises – by 17.3 per cent and real estate enterprises – by 3.9 per cent.

Statistical information on the past, present or future changes in the economic activities of service enterprises, services confidence indicator, characterising changes and tendencies of services activity has been prepared by applying data of the statistical survey of services enterprises, also known as business opinion survey. Statistical survey is intended for short-term economic analysis and expectations, i.e. to foresee economic activity relations and growth periods, to establish present economic state in the country and trend of business activity changes. More specifically, such data are increasingly used in predicting turning points in the economic cycle.
