According to the requirements of the EU legislation, the Baltic States, same as other EU countries, had to carry out an Agricultural Census in 2020. It had to be ensured that only the smallest agricultural holdings, which together possess no more than 2 per cent of the total area of utilised agricultural land or keep no more than 2 per cent of the total number of livestock units, would be not included into the survey. A uniform EU methodological statistical data preparation system enables a comparison between Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian agricultural indicators.
