As of 1 January 2021, there were 108,258 economic entities operating in the country (excluding natural persons engaged in economic activity), or 45 per cent of all economic entities registered in the Lithuanian Register of Legal Persons. Against the beginning of 2020, the number of economic entities in operation increased by 0.8 per cent.
Almost one-fourth of entities (22.5 per cent) were engaged in wholesale or retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Most (82.6 per cent) of the operating economic entities had less than 10 employees.

Annual income of the majority of national economic entities amounted to EUR 0.3 million. Economic entities earning more than EUR 40 million accounted for 0.3 per cent of all the economic entities in operation.

Based on the data of the State Enterprise Centre of Registers, there were 13,342 economic entities registered in Lithuania (by 5 per cent more than in 2019). The biggest number of the newly registered economic entities were located in Vilnius municipality, the lowest – in Birštonas municipality.
