In 2020, turnover (VAT excluded) of enterprises engaged in transportation, accommodation and service activities totalled EUR 25.5 billion at current prices and, compared to 2019, increased by 2.2 per cent.
In 2020, turnover (VAT excluded) of enterprises engaged in transportation and storage activities totalled EUR 11.8 billion at current prices and, compared to 2019, decreased by 6 per cent. The largest decrease was recorded in enterprises engaged in air transport and land transport as well astransport via pipelines – 67.1 and 7.2 per cent respectively.
In 2020, turnover (VAT excluded) of accommodation enterprises totalled EUR 169.4 million at current prices, or by 44.1 per cent less than in the previous year.
In 2020, turnover (VAT excluded) of service enterprises totalled EUR 13.3 billion and, compared to 2019, increased by 2.5 per cent. A significant increase in turnover was observed for enterprises providing information services – by 58, those engaged in veterinary activities – 38.1, residential care activities and social work activities without accommodation – 30.2 per cent. However, a considerable decrease in turnover (VAT excluded) was recorded in travel agency tour operator reservation service and related activities – by 77.6, creative, art and entertainment activities – 46.6, sports activities and amusement and recreation activities – 31 per cent.

Statistical information on the past, present or future changes in the economic activities of service enterprises, services confidence indicator, characterising changes and tendencies of services activity has been prepared by applying data of the statistical survey of services enterprises, also known as business opinion survey. Statistical survey is intended for short-term economic analysis and forecast, i.e. to foresee economic activity relations and growth periods, to establish present economic state in the country and trend of business activity changes. More specifically, such data are increasingly used in predicting turning points in the economic cycle.
