In the Survey on Income and Living Conditions 2022, residents were additionally asked about their participation in cultural and sport events and attendance of cultural objects in the 12 months prior to the survey. 28.3 per cent of people aged 16 and older went to the cinema at least once in the 12 months, 35.1 per cent – watched live performances (plays, concerts), and 12.7 per cent – watched sports events or competitions. Compared to the results of a similar survey carried out in 2015, participation in cultural and sport events was lower, but this may have been influenced by the restrictions introduced as a result of COVID‑19, which were still in place during the reporting period (2021).
Older people attended cultural and sports events much less often than young people. Cinema was visited at least once in the 12 months by 60 per cent of people aged 16–24 and by only 5.5 per cent of people aged 65 and older, live performances – by 49.7 and 17.6 per cent respectively.
