Circular migration
Circular migration is a repeated movement of a person between two or more countries, when the duration of each stay in that country or abroad is of at least twelve months.
Indicators of circular immigration or emigration are calculated by counting persons who immigrated/emigrated during the reference year and experienced at least one previous immigration/emigration during the last 9 years preceding the reference time (in 10 years crossed the border at least 3 times in total) when the duration of each stay is of at least twelve months.
Additional measures are taken to evaluate the number of circular immigrants/emigrants, who migrated only between Lithuania and one other country during a selected period of time (reference year + 9 preceding years).
Circular immigrants by previous place (country) of residence
Circular emigrants by next place (country) of residence
Below are maps showing how many such circular immigrants/emigrants there were in the years 2020 and 2021 and between which countries they migrated.
