In 2018, compared to 2017, the number of post offices decreased by 2 units; in rural areas, it decreased by 9, while in urban areas – increased by 7. The number of mobile post offices increased by 2. In 2018, within the framework of universal postal services, the public company Lietuvos paštas received and sent out 23.5 million items of correspondence and 257.2 thousand postal parcels, i.e. by, respectively, 24.5 and 35 per cent more than in 2017.

In 2018, compared to 2017, the number of active mobile phone subscribers increased by 1 per cent. In 2018, there were 1.4 active mobile phone subscribers per capita.

In 2018, compared to 2017, the number of outgoing short messages (SMS) decreased by 11.4 per cent, while the number of outgoing multimedia mes­sages (MMS) increased by 20.2 per cent.

From 2010, the number of public fixed telephone lines was on the decrease; in 2018, compared to 2017, it decreased by 13.1 per cent.

In 2018, compared to 2017, the number of digital subscriber line (xDSL) sub­scribers dropped by 7.4 per cent, the number of digital telephone (ISDN) lines – by 6 per cent.
