The chapter provides statistical information on the production of industrial enterprises, its changes and structure by economic activity. Statistical information on the production structure of mining and quarrying and manufacturing by market is also provided.
Economic activities are classified according to the national version (EVRK Rev. 2) of the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community (NACE Rev. 2). Industry covers:
– mining and quarrying (B);
– manufacturing (C);
– electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (D);
– water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (E).
These sections are subdivided into economic activities. The economic activity of an enterprise is identified on the basis of the products it manufactures.
Since 2002, the Products, Goods and Services Classification (PGPK) has been used in the Enterprises Production of Commodities Survey for the classification of commodities. This classification is the national version of the List of Products of the European Community (PRODCOM).
Commodities statistics data are published on the Official Statistics Portal (Business statistics → Industry → Production of commodities (annual)).
Statistical information is based on the data of the short-term statistics survey on industrial enterprises. The survey covers industrial enterprises of all types and forms of ownership.
For the calculation of indices and changes in the value (VAT and excise excluded) of industrial production, a producer price index is used.
In 2018, compared to 2017, the value of industrial production sold grew by 4.8 per cent at constant prices. A 30.4 per cent increase in production was recorded for repair and installation of machinery and equipment, 14.6 per cent – manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, 10.9 per cent – manufacture of rubber and plastic products, 10.6 per cent – manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers.
In 2018, against 2017, production of manufacture of basic metals decreased by 15.5, refined petroleum products – 2.1, food products and tobacco – 0.7 per cent.
In 2018, changes occurred in the structure of the industrial production sold. The proportion of the manufacture of refined petroleum products in the total mining and quarrying and manufacturing production increased from 21.7 per cent in 2017 to 23 per cent in 2018, chemicals and chemical products – from 9.2 per cent in 2017 to 10.5 per cent in 2018.
