Information of the chapter will be supplemented

The chapter presents statistical information of accommodation services, travel agencies and tour operators prepared based on statistical survey data.

Statistical information has been prepared based on the requirements of Regulation (EU) No 692/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 July 2011 concerning European statistics on tourism and repealing Council Directive 95/57/EC.

In 2018, travel agencies and tour operators provided services for 193.9 thousand foreigners, of whom 71.8 thousand were same‑day visitors, and for 500.3 thousand Lithuanian residents, of whom 34.1 thousand were same‑day visitors. Compared to 2017, the number of foreign tourists whose trips to Lithuania are organised by travel agencies or tour operators increased by 7.5 per cent, the number of Lithuanian residents’ trips abroad increased by 23 per cent.

Most of the foreigners using the services of travel agencies or tour operators arrived from Germany (32.2 per cent), France (6.8 per cent), Japan (6.8 per cent), and Italy (5.6 per cent). Lithuanians travelled the most to Turkey (29.5 per cent), Egypt (11.9 per cent), Greece (10.1 per cent), Spain (5 per cent), Bulgaria (4.9 per cent), and Poland (4.3 per cent).

In 2018, Lithuanian accommodation establishments received 3.6 million tourists, or by 11.3 per cent more than in 2017. Foreigners accounted for 48.2 per cent of the total number of the tourists accommodated (by 10.2 per cent more than in 2017). The majority of foreign tourists were from Germany – 214.1 thousand (12.3 per cent), Russia – 183.6 thousand (10.5 per cent), Poland – 179.2 thousand (10.3 per cent), Belarus – 165.6 thousand (9.5 per cent), and Latvia – 161.7 thousand (9.3 per cent).
